FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHY IS POOLVILLE HAVING A BOND ELECTION?

Currently, all campuses are at or over their functional capacity and the proposed projects in the bond would more adequately accommodate the current student enrollment as well as the projected growth.

WHY IS THE PLAN NOT TO BUILD A PK-5 CAMPUS?

If a PK-5 campus was in the bond package, the district’s borrowing power would be at the maximum level allowed. By building a PK-2 campus, funds are available to budget for the junior high and high school. However, the PK-2 campus will be master-planned to add onto at a future date, when more space is necessary for additional growth.

CAN THE LAND PISD JUST PURCHAED BE USED FOR THE NEW PK-2 CAMPUS?

A New PK-2 Campus, including parking, bus pick-up/drop-off and parent pick-up/drop off, playgrounds, circulation and infrastructure along with providing room for expansion typically requires 12 to 15 acres.

The current land and site is not ideal to accommodate more facilities and students but can help relieve congestion on our current campuses by providing parking and space for overflow traffic.

HAS PISD PURCHASED LAND FOR THE NEW PK-2 CAMPUS?

Not yet, but the bond amount Includes Money allocated for land purchase should the Board choose to do so.

HOW WILL THE BOND RELIEVE CROWDING AT THE JUNIOR HIGH?

Once the new PK-2 campus is built, 6th grade would move from the junior high to the elementary school to free up capacity.
